I saw a Targa GTA today!

At a pontiac show, their was a 91 GTA targa top. The guy said it was done many years ago by a company, before he had it. Thats the first firebird targa I've seen.

A targa top is like T-tops, but without the Tbar in the middle. The corvette coupes, for example, are targas.
Edit: The 50th on the top is a targa, there's a single piece that you can put on like T-tops to cover it

Always thought it came from the shape that the top of the windshield and the T-top bar make, like the letter T. Not sure that is right though, maybe the T really stands for something else.

I've always known it to be that with the tops removed, it looks like the letter "T" but my best friend insists it looks more like an "I", which I suppose it does. A "T" would having nothing on the bottom.

Most men will call them Titty Tops because you can look up at the reflection and see boobies no offense to all the women users.

I say they are Two Tops or Twin tops.
Depending on how you look at the car its either an I or H top.

IIRC "targa" is latan for One, Ie One top=Targa Top. Also my 82 is going to be a Targa top camaro 1 solid removable top, not 2 removable tops.

The Targa Top was invented by Porsche in the early '60s, and was given that name, IIRC, to pay homage to the Targa Florio road race... same sorta thing as the IROC badge to pay homage to the race.

The "T" in "T-top" is because of the shape from the windshield and t bar. Targa is a 1pc... ttop is 2pc. you can call it two top, twin top, tip top whatever. The T comes from the T bar that gets placed in the car.. that is in the shape of a T...
