T-Top Weatherstripping

I got new weatherstripping (thanks bruce) and now I am a bit confused how to put it on.

Assume the yellow is adhesive, should I do that? It was not like this originally (out of the factory) and it resulted in rust, so should I seal it up.

And what should I use to seal the weatherstripping on?

I used 3M yellow weather stripping adhesive, and it works well. It says to put a light coat on both surfaces, allow to dry, and then put more glue and bond immediately.
