4th gen backseats?

Seeing as how i just did my cavalier seat conversion the back seats look real crappy. HAs anyone ever done 4th gen back seats in a thirdgen. I was looking at my buddies 02 ta and they look like they would work. I can get teh cloth ones dirt cheap through the local junkyard i practically live at. I figure it would be kinda nice to have the upholestry kinda match or at least be cloth

I just installed front 4th gen leather in the front of my 84 and they fit great. I have the rears and they are supposed to fit also. Will find out soon but dont expect any problems.

Here's a hint: Everybody who has 4th gen front seats, has 4th gen back seats too.

The hint on everyone who has 4th gen front seats has back to match. Then why are so many people looking for front seats only? Many people would only be interested in their comfort and not their rear passengers. Also, they would not be interested in something to match their interiors. I for one would never do that. I have just picked up a full set front and rear leathers. They should fit fine.

If you do the fourth gen front leather then it looks odd without the back leather.

However fourth gens have no split rear folding seat option. So if you have split rear seats you have to rip the mounting bar out.

you don't have to remove the two little bars in order to mount the rear seatback.

why that began i have no idea and then it not only causes more work but leaves you with out the option to add the stock pieces if ever needed.

i would love to sell my front leather 98 seats so that i could upgrade to a more race style setup and keep the rear seats so that it looks nice but i find it hard that people want just the fronts.

That's because any dumb bastard that buys just front seats has to spend a year and a half tracking down a back seat that doesn't match perfect.

Ask me how I know this.

Ditto, count me in on the dumb bastard group..... although I have an excuse.

At the time, I was driving my s-10 so all I needed were the fronts, but the guy I bought them from had the complete set AND console for $400. Oh well, hopefully I'll find some graphite rears someday for a decent price.

That's what I have... graphite rears. The first set I bought was the wrong color (not graphite) and this set that I finally got 2 years after the fronts, is a *close* match.

the car i got the fronts out of hadn't fared so well at the back... some damage and then a bunch of parts piled on top...

for the amount of time i actually have the rear folded back, i can live with it...

100% AGREED - I did not have to cut the bars to put my 4th gen rear seats in.

Can you still fold your rear seats then (after the 4th gen single piece rear was installed)?

Amen, brotha! We got a club goin' on! However only the elite purchased a set of 4 and have a flawless matching set Just kidding...

To answer the question as many have; they bolt in so beautiful it's scary. It took me longer to vacuum under the seats then to bolt the whole set in! [No joke]

I think the best 4th gen leather seats are the ones from the 96 SS Camaro,

I like the bird seats better because they have better side support then the camaro seat.

I had the trans am seats as well in my car,

The camaro ones are much more comfoartable when cruising.
Going around twisties, the T/A ones are a good deal better, but the other ones are so comfy.

I didn't know if it was an SS thing or not, I just know mine came from an SS. They had 8K miles on them when I bought them back in late 2000. They are in my brothers car (at least most of them are, I've got the drivers seat in my car so I can sit in it and pretend that my car runs. )

Damn Zepher, looks like someone tossed a grenade in your car

Are you going to do 4th gen door panels too?

I'll be using the 4th gen door panels. I am going to try and mount them the same way they are mounted on a 4th gen.
I've got a pair of doors I can play with so I can cut holes in it for the mounting tabs.

I really need to clean up the interior of the car, it's been used for temporary parts storage lately.

Yes you have to cut the split seat tabs

Just want to *** my 2cents. I just finished installing the 4th gen rear seats in my 85 TA. I had to cut the two mounting bars off the old split seats to get the new single peice in. The new back did not pivot properly with the bars still there as it was somewhat bulged in the middle. It did not allow the seat back to be lowered.
