i tried searching but i coudln't find a real answer. my 89 vert has a really loose column. i know i could take the tiem to fix it but i have an extra column from an 87 lt. before i puled the column out of the vert i wanted to check to see if anyone knows if all the wiring would be the same between the 87 lt column and the 89 rs vert column. thnaks for any help.
Search the tech board. Rather then replace it, try fixing it using this post. Scroll down to vaders 2nd post and theres a whole write up on it.

That post so saved my but when I was fixing my steering column (someone else broke it)

If you swapped, the car won't start.
87 doesn't have VATS so you would have to transplant your lock cylinder into the the 87 column.

The plastic casing doesn't have room for the vats wires, found that out when I replaced mine, spent better part of 4 hours filing the plastic and carving to make a groove, and the outside collar for the key cyllinder wasn't big enough either. (that was fun too)
