Seat Covers

I'm pretty sure this hasn't been asked before, but is there a difference between the driver's and passenger's side seats, other than the hinge?

I did a seat swap in my Ford Ranger, and I put Tempo seats into it. In doing so, I had to swap out the hinges, because the Tempo seats were from a 4 door car, and they didn't have the tilt feature my Ranger had to get into my extended cab.

All the seats in my local yards have the same problem, they have a tear in the driver's side (you know which spot I'm talking about). What if I just swapped the seat cover from a matching passenger side seat? Would that work?

The tilt forward button would be on the wrong side, but other than that it looks like it will be the same. I've thought about just buying a seat to pull the cover from and use the good panel of cloth to patch the original driver's side seat entrance bolster though...

I am in the short term about to switch drivers 6-way power seat(bracket and all) to the other side and visa versa. I have found out that the six-way power has a bracket that is shorter in the rear than that of the regular bracket. Also, when you change seats exactly like they came, they end up closer to the console. I will be attempting to make new brackets for each seat to try and fix the problem. I think that if I make a bracket for each seat and then attach the seats to the brackets then this should work. The left seat needs to be set up a little higher in the rear than that of the right hand side. A little juggling around and scraped knuckles should help the situation. The reason for this change is that I am in Australia and I want the best 4th gen seat on my(right) side. Sorry, I didnt mention that the new seats are 4th. gen. leather. Anyone changed brackets or made up new ones that might give me a clue?
