Like many others trim piece, that is right under the window inside the car, mine cracked. I bought another one to replace it. What sort of adhesive should I use to attach the new piece?

i know what hes talking about. if you look at the plastic piece, there should be stems for the speed nuts to bolt onto. look at you door panel when you get it off. also, do a search on how to get it off...there is some really good explanations.

 

Oh its bolted I though that it was adhesive.

James C: The piece I am refering to is the one at the very top of the door. I often use it as an armrest. It runs the entire length of the door. Its black, plastic.

 

i know what ur talkin about and the only way to put the fabric on the plastic is with plastic rivits, becuz thats how its held on, u could try using regular rivits and see how that works but u might crack the plastic

 

Plastic rivets, huh, never knew such a thing existed. Do they still work in the standard metal rivet guns?

And where would you find such a creature? Hardware store?

 

yeah metal rivits will work, u can get them at like homedepot or lowes or any place. some places sell a kit with the rivit gun and a bunch of rivits.

i think the plastic "rivits" are molded into that plastic piece and i guess GM used some sort of heat gun/press thing and like made them look like rivits when the fabric was "rivited" o the plasitc

 

I already have a rivet gun with some steel and Aluminium rivets. I was just wondering if plastic rivets would work in the same gun as the metal ones or if they used a different gun or different method completely.

 

I'm at a loss about the fabric and plastic part (probably because I'm stupid or something) but, the plastic is attached to the doorpanel with 10mm stamped thread cutting nuts. They are put on reverse of normal. I used a pair of 'duck billed' pliers to tighten mine back down (and it was slightly a pita)...
