trunk lid lock siezed
the lock cylinder on my trunk is jammed solid
tryed spraying some graphite and WD-40 in there but no help, key won't turn. Looks like the lock is riveted into the body! how easy/hard is it to get that lock off my car without breaking anything? Also that center peice where the lock is, got a little firebird graphic on it, I'm guessing i need to take off the 2 brake light panels on either side of it to get it off? I see no bolts or ***** on either side, in or out, don't suppose it just pops off with a little screwdriver leverage, eh?

Yep...gotta take off the brake light housings before the center piece can be removed. In order to do that, you need to remove the plastic panel at the back of the trunk well, and guess what? It is held in place with one or two small screws on top, which can only be accessed with the hatch open, plus the hook on the hatch fits through said panel.
Unless you have a remote release, you may end up climbing into the back of the car and literally ripping out that panel. Once it is out of the way, you might be able to unlock the mechanism from inside.
Or, you could get a drill and drill the lock out...

Your best bet is a locksmith or drilling it out. You arent gonna be able to remove anything from that rear section without first getting the interior panels out. And that pretty much requires the trunk to be open.

heh thanks for the advise.
Fortunately i do have a remote release, I only found out about the key being stuck because i took the release out to do some re-wiring, and i couldnt shut my trunk back up without the release back in (cuz of the key) BUT, my idiot savant brother beat on it with a pair of pliers and apparently knocked loose whatever was freezing the cylinder up, works now
