window keeps popping off front track
window keeps popping off front track
my drivers side window keeps popping off the front guide track almost every time i close the window. i finally got around to taking the door panel off and there was nothing physically loose except that the front of the window moved around quite a bit. I took the pass. side door panel off to compare and the only thing i could find was that one of the metal bars that attaches the glass to the regulator toward the front looked bent compared to the pass. side. I also noticed that the drivers side motor looks like it had been replaced. Im guessing that this bend is the problem but since i have to take the whole assembly out of the door to get any kind of leverage to bend the bar back, i wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem so i dont take the whole damn thing apart just to find that it didnt fix the problem
.
thanks
.thanks

ok, first off, this is knowledge from working on my 4th gen. my 94 had the exact problem, i took the panel off and couldnt find it. then i noticed theres a piece of metal about 20 inchs long, that runs vertical near the side with the outer door handle, with a roller in it. that attaches to a part on the window track. it holds the window inplace and tight as it goes up. i would have never thought it would fix the problem but it did. there isnt much that holds the roller to the track the notch is little and not very deep. mine wouldnt even fit back in the track, so i tapped threads and used a bolt. this probably wont make any sense at all till u go and look at it.
hope it helps

im still not sure exactly what part you tapped for a bolt. I see the vertical track your talking about but ya lost me from there.
i just cant see why the hell the front of the window when its almost all the way down has what seems like 2 to 3" if side to side play in it...
also i found 3 cracks on the actual inner door skin...they are all about 2" in length..argh..this door is beginning to **** me off.
anyone have any more input..ill try to get some pics up and see if i can attach a quicktime video that i took w/ my digi. cam and see if anyone can help

did u run your finger in the vertical thing? its got 2 stops, one at the top one at the bottem, those keep the roller in there so it doesnt fall out, theres a chance that u dont have one and the roller fell out? ill try and get a pic for u

the roller will hook into the track, it was pulled out. u might have to tap threads into in and put a screw in it
