I BOUGHT A 84TRANS AM ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT I NEED TO GET MY HATCH WORKING.I DONT KNOW IF THERE USE TO BE A MOTOR IN IT OR NOT ALL I KNOW IS I CAN STICK A LONG FLAT HEAD SCREW DRIVER IN THERE AND TURN AND THATS THE ONLY WAY IT OPENS. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT I NEED TO GET MY HATCH FUNCTIONAL AGAIN AND WHERE TO GET IT THANX

Your car didn't have a hatch pull-down motor. It is simple to add a hatch release solenoid to your hatch latch though. You just need to be sure you get a 1982-86 hatch release solenoid from a car at the pick-a-part or used ThirdGen F-Body retailer. It attaches with a single bolt to the latch. You should also get the relay, wiring and hatch release button.

funny you should mention that.....my hatch motor just went out on my camaro...i have one on order
