weather stippping
I need to replace the weatherstripping around the drivers door. Does anybody know how to remove it from car and put it on another, and is this something that should be done or should new be bought.
I found some in a donar car that is in good condition, and would like to change mine.
Thanks Scoty

which strip? the one on the door itself or the one the window hits? my t top car gasket on the door was held on by 2 screws on each end and some adhesive that destroyed the gasket coming off. and then all along the gasket there are little plastic push in pins that grab a hole in the door to hold it in place. i bought all new gm gaskets for mine worked great went in very easy. if your doner car has good gaskets you may be able to get it off but in one peice will be tough. try to remove the doner car gasket 1st before you destroy yours taking it off

t top car? that gasket cover the t top and side of the windows. not sure how the hard top is. I can tell you this you will not be able to remove the t top gaskets in one peice no way no how. they are glued in to a track the side on a hard top may be the same. Which do you have?

It's a hard top. If they are glued in that well on a t top car they will probably be about the same for mine.
Oh well nice thought though.

I got my replacements from a car at a boneyard. It was pretty easy. The first one I carefully seperated the rubber from the metal strip, while it was still on the car, then my brother comes over to the other side & used a crowbar. It's ALOT easier that way.
On both ends there are screws and maybe glued; and about every 4-5inches it's screwed to a metal strip. If you don't care about the condition left on the donor car, take a crowbar and pry under the metal strip & rip the whole thing up (paying attention not to rip\tare the rubber). Then seperate the metal strip from the rubber.
