My battery tray is geting very rusted (its got holes). I don't want to cut out the metal and I don't know how to weld or know anybody that does know how, and I don't have the money to have it done at a body shop. So I was wondering if I sanded down to bare metal and sprayed rust prehiberted (sorry for the Spelling) paint and then put ruber coating on both sides, top and bottom. Would it work.
P.S. the metal still is prety strong

If the holes are not very big do what I
did and used a kit of POR-15. It was their
starter kit and the only thing I didnt get
wash their repair fabric. I just substituted
some fiberglass. This should work pretty
good as long as the holes are pretty small. The starter kit is about 22.00 including shipping.

or, u could cut out the rusted spot, and replace it with a piece of sheet metal and use some self tapping screws to hold it down, then seal it with whatever u want, and paint. sure screws arent the best way but whos gonna see under your battary anyway?

I just placed a new one on top of the old one. I first cust out the bad stuff, then painted it with some rust prevent paint. I then laid the new one from classic industries I think on top. Works like a charm. When I get the new engine put in I will have it welded in then.
