Rear Window Tint
I'd like to tint my rear and probably my side windows 5%. I tried this once on my sport coupe but it was such a pain in the a** because of the curve of the window. Anyone have any tips? I've heard heat guns work well to get the tint to form with the window? Any thoughts?
In a situation like this I like to pay someone who knows what the're doing. I like doing things to my own car, but it crosses a line where you start to cheap out. I think you just crossed that line. Just my thoughts...
I agree, especially if you have rear defrost plus with the curve of the window. Its best just to pay someone to do it. I think I paid around $200 to have all mine done, and I don't have any bubbles at all, and the tint has been on there for around 10 years now.
Thats a project I won't even attempt to do, I see so many cars driving around with tint that has so many bubbles, makes you wonder why they don't just pull it off? or they put that tint on you find at Pep Boys, that turns purple after a month..

Exactly, it is worth it to pay someone, just make sure they garrentee their work. Because sometimes, the defroster likes to come off with the tint, and it would be on the tint shop if that were to happen. Just a good way to cover your butt.

Definately just go to a pro and have them do it. Make sure they have a guarantee, that way if they mess it up they have to re-do it. If you try it yourself and mess it up, its all on you.

Chickens!!!!!!!!
I tinted my own windows about 4mo ago. No bubbles, used a heat gun.
It was a pain in the a$$! If you can afford it, pay someone to do it. If you can't afford to pay someone $200 bucks (like me) and if you have the patience, give it a try. Cost me, about $50-$70 bucks (I had to cut a piece for the pass. window 2x, the 1st x I cut wrong side, now if my driver side ever needs to be redone....).
Good Luck & let us know what ya decide!

It's really not as difficult as everyone seems to think it is, but if you don't have any tinting experience I would be inclined to defer to the experts. Namely a tint shop with a guarantee.

well see that's the thing...I would pay someone to do it. But I asked a couple different places around me and when I told them what kind of car it was they said they wouldn't do it. I've done it before with mediocre results. I figured a heat gun would help but maybe I'll just try going farther away for it if it's that much of a pain to do. Thanks for all your input.

Spray on tint? I've personally never heard of such a thing. I would imagine it would work about as well as things like "spray on wax", which is to say not very well - because you get what you put in.

how hard would it be to remove old tint? I want to have the tint redone on my hatch, its turned to a faded purple over the years and its time for a change. Was also contemplating a light tint to the fronts. Anyways, any input would help guys. do you know how much more they would charge to remove the old stuff.....? I doubt that is covered in the install
Thanks
