removing tires from rims

i recently obtained a set of irocs that i plan on cleaning up, might sell, might put them on the trans am. the person i got them from decided to cut the tires off, but the sides are glued to the rims. anyone have any tips on how to remove the rest of the tire from the rim?

Mineral spirits, acetone (nail polish remover)??? Something to dissolve/loosen the glue- I never heard of gluing tires onto wheels but it makes sense to avoid spinning them.
Or cutting with a razor knife, loosening up a flap big enough to pull and yank it off?

me neither, i just thought the stuff they put on is the seal them, i figured they used the tire pressure to keep the tire on the wheel. I've tried scraping it with a razor, and i've tried prying with a screwdriver, neither attempt was successful. i will try the acetone, see if that works, thanks.

It's really not worth the effort especially if it's glued on as well.
The bead of the tire has a laminated steel band in it (rougly ½" thick total width) and is 'pressed' onto the wheel. It requires a couple pry bars, WD40 and a really bfh (and a few choice words). There's a very good chance of gouging/ruining the bead seat (for lack of knowing what it's really called) using this method as well.
I have done this 1 time and 1 time only. Some tires shops (Pep Boys here) charge $0 to remove a tire.

it's just bead sealer we use it all the time at work on cheap tires that don't like to seal well and you're not gonna get that tire off the bead easily if at all just take it to a local shop and offer a mechanic $10 under the table to pull em off for you it'll take him about 30 seconds per rim to do

Is it bead sealer? I work at a shop and do a lot of tire work, I would do the work for free if you asked politely, so hopefully someone near you will.

Yeah, I was an idiot. I did a search for something and this came to the top. I forgot to check the date even. I wish there was a "go back and time and read before posting" button.
