Went back into the shop and they say now there going to shoe horn both 18's in the hatch... then I said if that's not enough I buy 2 more for the back seat area... the installer roll'd his eyes then Yell'd "I'm not ****ing building it!".

Then just 3 months earlier to this, the same guy driving had to be air lifted to the hospital from the track becasue he suffered an anurism and needed emergency surgery. So all in all I think once he gets this mess cleared up, he's better off staying away from the track, kinda got a bad omen or something. Joined: Jun 2002

actually, that is a late 70's chevrolet monza. it has a bbc in it too! don't you EVER confuse a pinto and a monza!
(sorry, those are one of my fav. cars, i get a little emotional looking at one messed up. my dad bought a 1979 brand new in 1978. he just sold it two months ago. it had a 14pt cage and ran mid 10's n/a.)

rofl, ya, i know...that's alot, but... if you want the sound, there ya go..
i've been looking at some 12's and the amp cost is insane... so i know 4 18's, unless if they are like.. 150 watts each, is going to be an unbelievable bill to pay.

Right now only have 2 18" comp vr's I was kind of kidding about 4 of them
Power:
Amps: 2 JBL 1200.1s (running at 2 ohms makes 1200 advertized power [more like 1300+])
Batteries: 1 yellow top optima dual post in the glove box for the amps and a regular battery for the motor (isolator stuck between the two)
Caps: 2 audio lightning 1 farad with digital tops
Wiring: 1/0 from batteries to isolator then 4 for the amps
Subs:
2 2003 Kicker Comp VR 18" 1000 RMS 2000 Peak (gonna stick one amp on each running at 2 ohms)
Box:
Seal'd particle board (only thing they wanted to make it out of) If I decide I don't like it I'll steal measurements and make one out of MDF.
The amps aren't too expensive around 265 bucks each. The subs were cheap 100 bucks each
So I can be pounding and when someone asks me I'll just say, "I have two one hundred dollar subs."
I figured this would make the car faster... after stall went from 5.0 0-60 mph to a 6.8 0-60 mph (g-tech'd) and 1/4 mile 14.0 @ 103 to 15.3@ 100. More weight more traction...
not to mention this is my everyday summer driver

chris those 18s are gonna blow a particle board box to pieces. lol.
not too shabby, i was thinking of going w/ kickers... but then i looked at their sound range, not as good as some of the competitions. :-/ but loud, i know kickers are, very loud. only speakers that have ever rattled my chest and made it hurt, but it hurt soooo sooo good. :-).

Yeah, that's the nice thing if I pop the box they will have to replace it. If I like it I probably just build my own out of MDF since I have table saw and about everything else I need. It's a lot easier for me to pay to have one made, use it for awhile, then copy the design later if I want. :-)
W7s made my chest hurt.
News update: Picked up 100 hp tonight on the motor... I ran 10 feet worth of blue wire conduct (only decent color they had with flame retardent didn't even have black) to the gauges and switchs coming through the firewall that I drilled out.
Actually starting to run out of room to mount **** (MSD and hurst line lock taking up most of the room)... I'm gonna have to mount the battery solenoid near driverside tire area and run bolts from the inside out... fun fun

back to roll cage stuff... is it possible to put some bars around your engine bay?
I"m eventually wanting to put a nice big engine in my car... when i go into the core that is... And i'm wanting to build it, and make sure it doesn't die if i get int a wreck...
So, is there a way to put a box around the engine bay? i know nascar does it & all, but has anyone done it on a 3rd gen yet? like... connect the whole car together w/ the cage, cept for the back, who cares there, lol.
What's valuable is life and engines. lol. Then again.. gas tanks are prety important too.. hmm.. ANYWAYS, can you do that?

see the thing with the nascar comparison is (and im going to sound pretty ignorant here because well i am on this topic) dont nascar cars have a complete tube chassis? So not only is there tubing around the engine but the entire chassis of the car is just made of tubes so youd basically be looking at buying a custom frame? So its a little different then putting it onto one of our cars. Also realize two things one if you have a high speed front end crash and the nose of the car is too solid instead of the car absorbing 80% of the crash and you 20 youd probably be taking 90% of the crash....could very well end up killing you....not to mention if you tied bars around the engine into the frame even a small collision would probably destroy the frame of the car.

So you're talking pretty much like a 14 point or so. Right?
