90-92 gauge swap into an 84 z

Has anyone done this and what is required to do it. I almost positive my current gauges arent dummies, but if they are what would show me they are? Do i need to change anything out other than the gauges? Any help would be appreciated. Also if you know of a webiste that has dont this. Thanks

Idk about the dummies but the 90-92 cluster has an electronic speedo and your 89 and earlier cars have a cable driven speedo. You would have to some how convert that. Idk how but thats one thing i can tell you

You either have gauges which are, gauges. Or, you have idiot lights which are, simply, light bulbs behind red covers that turn on to tell you one thing, you've reached critical mass and are 5 seconds away from being completely screwed.

Correction: Pre'86 cars are cable driven, not pre-89s.

And, one way to do this is buy a donor car (90+) and swap the motor and harnesses out of it... im sure theres another way, but i dont know for sure so dont quote me on it

Pretty sure Camaro's changed over to VSS (electronic) speedo's with the dash makeover (90-92). 89 and older were all cable driven. You might be thinking of Firebirds.
