heater core mess
The heater core went out and pretty much left a puddle of coolant in my passenger side foot well. After putting the new heater core in (what a PITA!!) I did the best I could of cleaning up the mess with rags.
Is their anything you guys would recommend to clean the carpet with and a way to dry up the coolant because the carpet is still soaked even though I used the rags to soak up a lot of it, its still wet... and its not going to evaporate.
Thanks
Jason

that happened to me about a year ago...i mopped up the antifreeze but kinda forgot about it after that. so the antifreeze dried into the carpet...suprisingly didn't make a stain or leave a smell though. anyway...any brand of carpet cleaner will work fine

My heater core went too. I dried my puddle with an old vacuum cleaner, followed by a small household heater blowing at the floor for an afternoon. Don't set your car on fire though.....

I blotted up all the antifreeze I could then I took a hoze and flooded the water over the area and at the same time with a shop vac i sucked the carpet. It removed all traces of the antifreeze and since it was wet any ways the water was no big deal. The trick was the shop vac sucking while applying the water. Then I just shopvaced the whole area to dry it, left windows down for a day in the garage and all set. I took off pass side kick plate and shoved a piece of wood to prop up carpet to circulate some air so it did not get trapped under rubber insulation mat.

Ya My heater core died. I didnt have as much trouble with the antifreeze as you. But my carpet still looks horrible. It looks all black and nasty for some reason.(original color is tan) Im guessing the previous owner did it to it....Anyway Im proud of you that you could withstand the aggrivation of the core. Cuz I watched a friend do it. And I was like jesus my dash is a mess! LOL

I simply used a soft cloth and very hot water and let dry, then I used Resolve, a normal carpet cleaner (I did both twice). Looks fine.

After my heater core went out (RIGHT after I bought the car.....) I replaced the core, reassembled my interior, and went to the quarter wash. Used the presoak setting and soaped the nasty spot really well, then used the vacuums they have there to suck up the mess. Worked excellent, no mess, no smell, and it was almost completely dry when I finished. Cleans the carpet quite well, I ended up doing the rest of the floor so it all looked the same.......
