Gas gauge dont work?

Gas gauge dont work?
Sometimes if I slam on the brakes hard enough my gas gauge goes down and dont work but it always comes back could my floter be bad or something my gauge hasnt moved in 2 days and its really annoying opinions??

mine flucuates(sp?) all the time,i just get used to it...i had it looked into & the guy told me a new floater would be $500 
i said to him is it made of gold & he said it must be...that wasnt even including labor! owell i just deal with it & hope to G0d i dont run out!!
