headrest (4th gen) removal
Please, can anyone tell me how to remove the headrest from a 4th gen seat. It is the ones with the two round bars that go into the seat. Thanks.

99Transam seats in leather. I took the back panel off and the two rods go down the back thru the holes. There is a plastic bit that both rods go thru. I did notice that there was a slice out of both rods where there was a spring clip. I am pretty sure that the clip when removed would allow the headrest to be removed. I would rather know what I am getting into before I have a go at this. Anyone removed their headrests? Dont be shy at least a couple of us need a little help.

I removed the headrests from these seats when I shipped them,

There is a clip that goes around one of the rods. Just remove it and the headrest comes out. I had to gain access from the back of the seat by pulling off the plastic covering over the back of the seat.
putting in the clip shouldn't be too hard as long as you are not in front of the UPS Drop off Center with no tools and it's hot as heck outside trying to fit 2 seats into one large box.

Our seats are leather. Could be the reason. Maybe yours could be reached from pulling the back seat cloth up and reaching to the top of the seat?

Yup, pull the clotch or leather up, it's velcroed down on the bottom, pull it up like you are removing the cover, and that will give you access to the headrest clips.
