convertibles....need info on chopping
ok so I checked the board, and yes I have been lurking for a couple of months. Here's what I am interested in: I got a 91 rs 3.1 with 42000 miles on it. It's rusty, but there. I am going to do quite a few mods, re-inforcing the car and such. But I want to make it a convertible. I don't want to buy another one and work from that, I was hoping somebody in the US, could do the job for around 3 grand. I would like it if someone could email me someone to get in touch with. I wouldn't mind if it cost over 3 grand..........and yes I know I can almost buy another decent one for that. Not interested, besides it wouldn't have 42,000 miles for three grand either.
ps this is not my first camaro, I have been driving them since 90, and my last 3rd gen I sold with 205,000 miles on the original engine and tranny, so I know they last. Would really like to cut mine, thanks for your time in advance.

Good luck. I hate to throw cold water on your plans, but back when ASC was tooled up and converting ThirdGen F-Bodies for customers it ran $4999. That was 14 years ago. Adjust for inflation and the fact that the parts are no longer available, you'll see that $3000 won't cover the cost. Info on the 1989 conversion cost

If you can find a decent shape vert. Snag it up.
I picked my 91 RS vert up for $600 outa a junk yard.
MINT Int. Grey leather, Good COndition top. No rips etc. Just needs a back window.
It was ina front end wrech and tweeked the subframe.
luckelly I have the ability to either chop and redo a front clip or chop the back of my 92Z and convert it to a vert with the vert as parts. Either way Just the leather Int. etc was worth the price.
