noisy headlight motors
has anyone ever found a fix to quiet the extremely loud 82-84 headlight motors? Do newer ones convert over?

It shouldn't be too dificult to upgrade to one of the 'newer' styles; you'd need the motors themselves and the correct underhood harness to operate them.
I think you would have to remove the headlight mechanism to swap the motors, so you'd need to mark the position of the mounting bolts before removal to easily re-align it after changing motors. You can disconnect the harness at the bulkhead connector on the firewall and install the new one. The switch and other wiring should be fine.

Re: noisy headlight motors
OOOOLD thread, but I didn't want to make a new thread if one allready existed.
Anyone have a fix for this? Mine sound like rubber rubbing on metal with a loud annoying noise. My 84's headlight motors sounded the same also.

I don't know if there is a fix but I would see if they can come apart, clean them up, and re-grease them with maybe that purple marine style grease. I think top down solutions might sell new gears but I don't for sure on this either. That's where I would start.
