Z06 Wheels
I have decided that I am finaly gonna buy me a set of Z06's for my car and I just wanted to know from those of you that have them where is the best place to buy them for the cheapest deal. I've found some on ebay for around $500.00 and if they are good wheels that would be extremely cheap, all info would be greatly appreciated...

Ebay is a good place to find a good deal on the rims you desire. There are also ads in most car mags that taylor to domestic vehicles for rims such as these.
Be forwarned though, these places will sell you 'ZO6 style' rims. If you are just going for the look of ZO6 rolling stock these rims will suit you fine and are alot easier to get your hands on than the real deal Z06 peices. However, OEM Z06 wheels are made of magnisium which offer significant weight advantages over the aftermarket ones which are made of aluminium. If I am not mistaken, the OEM Z06 wheels offer a 13 lbs. weight savings per wheel over the standard C5 wheels, which are made of aluminium just like the aftermarket Z06 ones will be. Rolling weight reductions have numerous benifits that all translate into a better performing vehicle, and considering we're talking in the neihborhood of 13 lbs a wheel, OEM units might be something you'd want to go out of your way to find.
Just some food for thought.

IIRC the first year for the ZO6 had the magnesium wheels, no longer though. I have a set off of a '03 ZO6 and they feel just as heavy as the old '01 SS wheels i had. Besides, my gf's brother works for GM and i had him try and find me a set of OEM Chrome ZO6s, which they do not make, and that is how i found out that only the first year of production cars got those wheels. Word is that they were too much $$ to replace/produce. Not sure if it is true or not. Just thought i should add that here! I believe some Bronze C5 50th ann. wheels are made of Magnesium though. They look pretty sweet and i have yet to see those on a thirdgen.
oem concepts is the only company that uses the direct casting from gm. you can take your chances with the quality of aaa, performance wheel outlet, detroit and the rest. if your only going for looks it may be worth your time. my set ran me 1700 without tires. they were a little too heavy for my taste and i had the lighter version. also hated the fact i had to use adapters....which added another 500 on to the bill. i don't know how many people kept asking me why i put fwd rims on my car. never again with adapters.
good luck.

good luck.
