4th gen dash swap.... i need help please.

i just swapped out my dash for a 4th gens. everything is fine except the gauges. they are not reading right. ive searched for help on this and all i have found is junk. im using a 95 gauge cluster in my car and nothing is reading right. the temp oil tach gas gauges are all wrong. do you guys know what i can do about this? all i have found is something about a dakota box. but no more info other than it exists. if you guys could point me in the right direction to getting this corrected it would be much appreciated. thanks.

All I can say is I found on the boards somewhere a link to some wiring diagrams for the 4thgen dash conversion. Try finding them and make sure you're wired in correctly.

everything is wired correctly, but the gauges aren't reading accurately. what does the dakota digital box do? and what is the part number? and I used the diagrams when I wired my gauges

The dakota box converts the signal to a correct one for the speedo and tach. Since your using a 95 cluster your tach should read right without the box. Same if you have an automatic, dont need the box. I have no idea why your other guages wouldn't be working.

oh yeah forgot, did your car originally come with guages or lights? I think that makes a difference with the sending units.

thanks for the help, but the thing is that my tach is way off it "bounces". my car originally had gauges not lights and it is automatic. It has an engine out of a 92 caprice, don't know if that car had gauges or lights and I'm using the sensors that were on that engine. the speedo is okay its about 5 miles off when going over 60 mph, but i can live with that, but it's the rest of the gauges that bother me, please help if you can

Is the cluster a 115 or a 150 mph cluster? LT1's use the 150's...and th V6's use the smaller ones. If you have a V6 cluster, that explains why the tach 'bounces'. Not calibrated for a V8. Yo could probably use the dakota box to make it right, but I think you'd be better off picking up a cluster from somewhere(like ebay).

I'm not sure on the other guages. if everything is wired in right and was working before, and you dont have a '93-'96 LT1 cluster, that may be the cause of the problem.
