1982-1984 Firebird Dash Pad.

Hi. It looks like the coldest night in 111 years (according to the weather guy) got the best of my original 84 T/A dash pad. It cracked right in the middle.

I need another one, and was just wondering what my options were. I would be happy to find a used one in mint condition, but would prefer NOS. Does anyone make reproductions of these? (Im pretty sure their are none, but I may aswell ask).

I would really hate to have to use my 86 Bird' dash pad, I want to keep my car original/correct.

Thanks for any help.

watch ebay closely, occasionally an 82-84 one comes up and they never go for more than maybe 20-30 bucks because people only want the newer ones, not old style like we got .

Gee Dan!
I really think you should come out and visit! You could really load up on all the parts you want! Recaros, 15th rims, NOS TA parts, and a dash pad!
Although, I know that you would want everything I've got too!
I wonder how shipping would be to those areas that are freezing! Could it crack during shipping in a frozen box??
You are going to have to talk with Alex on all the stuff I have! That guy can just stare at everything for hours!!
I am going to have to stop telling him about all the good stuff to look for! He gets them before me!!
I called, you were out! I talked with your sister for awhile! Did you get the message??
I should have a working computer and on the net by this next week!!:lala:
Then, I probably won't get anything done around the new house!

Later,

George

P.S. Out there in the new place, it will be dropping down to 17* Just the other morning, it was 20* out, and I was just in a T-Shirt! Moving stuff around in the garage! 4 A.M. too! man, am I a nut??!!!

That really sucks about the dash. My Camaro dash cracked when I was wiping the dust off of it! I'm lucky my '82 came with a perfect dash! I have it stored in my house to keep it out of the sun untill I can start driving it on the road. Any pictures of your '84?

So George...

So George...you didnt answer my question...have you come across an 82-84 dash pad during your move?

Wow, so you have to put up with cold weather now? Hmmm...hahaha. I hope to be out to visit you as soon as your settled in. My family is only about 3 hours from you.

Hey Alex, while your 82 is off the road, I could make sure that dash pad dosent get dusty

Here is a pic. of my car. No thats not my house in the background

Here is a pic. of my dash during the summer...Ah, the good ol' days...no cracks. The knee pad is from George. The seats are from a 98 Bird'

Also my car currently looks like a salty road booger

Nice 84! Is that the original paint? Is the Trans Am decal missing?

Here is my '82 as of yesterday. All thats keeping it off the road now is CA Emissions Once I get it to pass I can start to worry about the paint!

Hope you find a dash soon! I'll be looking for 1!

Hi Alex,

Ive got to say, I loved the Yellow and Black combo on your 82. I thought it would be very sharp If you painted it to factory specs, but yellow instead of red. Although, I am certain the red will look awsome too.

My car is wearing its second paint job. My family has had the car for the past 7 years. It was probably painted when it was only a couple of years old. Yes it is missing the TransAm decal on the fender. Its on the list of things to do...but you know how that goes. My long term goal with the car is to restore it to the way it would have looked on June 6, 1984 when it rolled off the Norwood assembly line. I want it to be a friggen trailer queen

And yes I do have all the original parts, and everything that I have done to the car can easily be put back to stock.

Good luck w/ your 82, I have enjoyed watching its progress.

Here is pic. #3. Yes, those are 85-90 Taillights. I have about 7 sets of thirdgen taillights in my garage, hehehe (yes George corrupted my mind)

The quality of that yellow paint was horrible! I scraped the whole car down to bare metal with no trouble !

Hasn't George corrupted all of our minds?

I love the 82-84 taillights though. I have a set of base 86-up tails on the '82 right now because I polished my '82 taillights and don't want them to get dirty.

My '82 has had 4 paint jobs... the original, all red, all metallic blue, and yellow!

Here is a picture of the '82 the first day I had it. I added the black paint the second day.

TTYL!

Edit: Can't wait to see Georges new place too! I am definantly going down there once he sets everything up!

Gee guys!

TAdan,
Yes, I have about 4 of the dash pads! 2 of them are the '84 style. Why do you think I said that about what you want from me!
So............do you need "Trans Am" fender decals???? HeHe! What else?
As for taillights, I may still outnumber you! I mean, you are still holding those 15th Anniversary Trans Am taillights for me, right??
Do you need any more knee pads?? I have 2 more, just like yours, in the same condition!
The move is going fine I guess, just a pain to set up the glass cases, fill them up with all the display stuff, then find out you need to move them around to fit more stuff (like more glass cases) in! I have so many boxes to still unpack! The new neighbors just stand there, and stare at my goodies! It is so peaceful and quite out there, you would love it! heck, the house across the street is for sale! One car garage though!
I'm sure that Alex will post a picture of my new white Turbo! You may get a kick out of it! Too bad I'm putting tons of miles on it!!
He also took some pictures of some of my stuff. He may post it here, or somewhere else, I don't know.

82FirebirdTA,
Ya, that Alex guy is a total nutcase! I mean, he even shows up to the library across the street from me, when I'm on the computer! Heck, he even shows up at 7-11 to see if I'm there getting my coffee! And I am!!
Where you at??

Both of you,
Ya, I corrupted you both!
I see that my work is finished. You both are no longer my apprentices. You are both TA Jedis! Go forth into the galaxy, spreading the TA Force!!
You both are always welcomed to come out and visit us!
Dan, bring you're whole family, that's cool! You know that there's tons of room for ALL of your cars!! Or just yourself, it don't matter. Your sister is invited, heck, even the dog! Heck, even the cars!!!

Later guys,

George

Wow! Look at this big ol turbo vehicle! Wonder what it does at the 1/4mile!!!

Thirdgen Content: Here is what the dash in my '82 looked like when I first bought it. It now has a proper 82 dash in it!

my84Firebird: The wheels were made by ARE, American Racing. I believe they are out of production though. They do look similar to BBS wheels. Thanks for the compliment

George, I sent you an email about the dash pad. I should call you one of these days.

BTW nice truck...I bet its faster than my LG4...Its got a turbo!
