Car Value

I've seen all of the post saying how rare cars are, but I'd like a value on mine. I know what kelley blue book says, but I'm wanting a realistic price. My car is a 1992 z28, has the 5.7, I'm the second owner, and it has 113k miles on it. Paint is Bright red with black stripes, its a 8.5 or a 9 out of 10. Interior is a 9 out of ten because of the seat wear. Dash is immaculate. No cracks in the dash pad. Car has had new brake rotors and pads put on in the last 5k miles. Has new Ridler 695 wheels with Lexani L7 tires. Less than 3k miles on those. Have the turn signals changed too, but have the stock ones if needed. I also have the stock wheels to go with the car as well. Had everything replaced that starts to go around this time. Has all new mounts, fuel pump, fluid flush, and all brand new injectors with a tune. Much more I've probably forgotten. Will post pictures too when I get a chance. Just want a base line price. Thanks guys.

Re: Car Value

Most of the maintenance items you listed really don't add any value to the car. They do make it easier to sell but really people aren't paying extra for newish brakes, fuel pump, fluids, etc.

Re: Car Value

Or how about getting an official appraisal done? Nobody here can tell you what your car's worth. If you're trying to sell it, then the market will tell you. It's value is somewhere between $2500 and $25000. That's about all we can say at this time.

Keep in mind I have every document that came with the car, and a 2 inch thick folder full of maintenance records. Window sticker, build sheet and all. I've been offered 9k by someone who doesn't even know the rarity of it.

Re: Car Value

May I ask what makes the car rare? There was a couple thousand Z28s with the 350 in 1992. Sounds like you're describing the Z03 Heritage appearance package which does lower that figure but rarity does not necessarily mean more valuable or desirable.

Keep in mind that, as already stated, you will not get a very accurate figure from the community - atleast not without pictures.

It has been seen numerous times that one person's definition of "mint" can vary significantly from another.

With 113K miles, there's likely more than just seat wear. Possible discoloration on the interior and exterior, likely paint worn on the switches, etc.

That you have such a complete record for the car is definitely a plus. Mileage isn't everything, but it has a factor. Again, you're not going to get very far without pictures.

Re: Car Value

I got a 84 Z28 with 102,000 miles on original motor and I believe it was going between 7-9 thousand in a private party class. Kelleys blue book is just like going to a dealership with a 80-90s vehicles and think your gonna get a good deal. Unfortunately I don't remember what website I went on to get that but it was around that price.

Re: Car Value

Another way is to check the classifieds on this site.

I found this to compare your car to:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/cama...amaro-z28.html

It's a 1LE which makes it one of 705. Considering they made 5,197 Z28s that makes it significantly more uncommon than your car (I am not calling either rare). They are asking 9,500 and it hasn't sold. Yes, you say, "it's a 305, not a 350" however the pricing for a 350 with an Automatic has been about on par with the 305 with the manual transmission.

Re: Car Value

Minor things make up the difference in years, but nothing makes a '92 significantly more valuable than a '91, or vice-versa.

Yes it is a z03. Has every option available for that year I believe. And The front two seats have some wear, and some discoloration, but the backseats are mint. Never been sat in, and the windows are tinted so the sun doesnt get to them. Other than the two front seats, the interior is perfect. The lady had a brand new dash assembly put in by GM before she sold it a month later. Have the original CD player with the yellow buttons which i believe is pretty rare as well.

Very nice car! Id prefer the stock wheels not saying the aftermarket ones aren't nice I just thought the stock wheels looked nice on those cars ( I had an arctic white 91). Id say this car would fetch 8-8500 easily. Again, really nice car man enjoy it.

T-tops weren't available with the 5.7 in 91/92. So those are either C&C t-tops or it's a 305. From the picture, they look like stock t-tops so it is most likely a 305.

I still have the stocks, just prefer these because of the offset and the size. Like I said, it can go back to stock in about an hour. Changed the speakers and the head unit, have the stock ones in a box in my garage. I've heard it's a rare head unit, factory yellow button CD player. If anyone has any info on it, let me know..

Here are a couple pics of my 84 Z28, right after the new paint was put on. Still waiting on putting the bottom stripes back on.
