Shifter Console...need some idea's...
Mega Shifter: I know this subject have been beat to death...I found tons of info on this shifter....but is this really like "if it's not broke, don't mess with it"? I love the looks of the Mega Shifter....I could really careless about the ratchet action because I don't race my car. It's just that my factory shifter dosen't seem to fit the appearence of my car. Would there be anyway to add a "Hurst" or "B&M" T handle to my factory console? The problem is that button that needs to be pushed down on the factory shift **** to get in and out of gear. Any ideas? Would I be getting myself in trouble to install a Mega Shifter? I'm not a mechanic at all....I know nothing about transmission cables or anything...and I've heard alot of horror stories about the Mega Shifter. Thanks for the input guys

I've read about those working...but that's not what I really want. I want a Brushed Aluminum T Handle....I wish someone made one with the button in it.....

Sorry, bud. I don't know what to tell you. I know of no companies that make aftermarket auto shifters for our cars in that shape.
The only suggestion I have for you happens to be the most expensive, and is also one I have done. Hurst Dual Gate 2 shifter. It costs a little more than $250 but it is worth it for racing, and the look and function of it. With this, you can use any normal manual shifter **** (by way of adapters) and it looks great. You can paint the logos on it black so it doesn't stand out as much, or take them off if you can. Hell, if you don't use the race gate, then you might even be able to put the stock plate back on. Good luck.

I've looked at those in the past too.....how is the installation? So I could add a T Handle to that if I wanted to? Money really isn't a problem....I just don't want to mess anything up...since everything is working fine now...lol

I wouldn't exactly call it "bolt in". I could tell by looking at it (along with horror stories about installations) that it would be a PITA to install. I was having some major work done to my car, and it was peanuts to add that, so I had a pro do it. Once in, it looks and works great, though I do need to hook up a neutral safety switch and fix the reverse light switch.
The mounting part is actually squared with a thread on it.
All you will need is this from Jegs.com: 530-153-0032
(Hurst all the way, avoid B&M like the plague!)
So in the end you have:
Hurst Dual Gate 2 shifter 1983-93 Camaro - 530-292-0000 - $239.99
Polished Aluminum T-Handle; SAE Thread - 530-153-0032 - $24.99
So you can have your great looking, and great performing shifter and T-handle **** for $264.98 + tax. I know it is a lot to spend, especially since you just want the look.

There is no light-up indicator, just the plastic peices sitting there (you should know what gear you are in).
It is a pain to install, but not impossible yfor you to do. Just take your time and follow the instructions, it shouldn't be too difficult.

Just finished putting my Hurst Dual/Gate in today. I used the shifter cable and brackets that came in the kit, it didn't look like I had to but I wanted to use the new parts. it wasn't very difficult to install, just took some time.
