anyone know history of these taillights?

I got this set of taillights, (IROC on right) a while back, that cars sold but i'm putting them on my 88 iroc convert. I was wondering if anyone actually knew the true history of them? I was just told the are 3rd Gen export taillights to japan. Is there any more info about them? i know they are "ugly" looking to some but they are different and they match the export taillights on my 01 SS. If you have a set or know about how/why they were made, please let me know... Thank you.

irocnroll, i see you're in japan, if you dont mind i just have a few questions, was wondering, how hard is it to find the 4th gen export tailights over there? like in junkyards or parts places. I have them on my 01 SS and i'm always afraid of getting hit in the rear and not being able to find a replacement set here in the states. Also, what style bumper is on the 4th gen camaros, same as the one in my picture above or does it have a wider liscense plate mounting area, i know the european camaros have a different bumper and i'm trying to buy one but cant get in touch with anyone there to help me. I appreciate any info you could give me,

oh, two more things, whats different about the 3rd gen export front lights, and why do the rear japanese lights have orange on the outside? is there an orange light requirement, i was always curious. Thank you. -Paul

the tires were dry-rotted, car sat for 6 years so when i got it and moved it, the tires started losing air, also notice it has a donut on the rear passenger side. I never had the car on the road. If you look, you can also see a blue tarp on the front of the car, in addition to air in the tires, it also needed a hood, motor, tranny, etc, and the pic is almost a year old, i just used the picture to show the lights on a car.
