Where can I get my 89 IROC steering wheel recovered?

I've had a couple spare wheels sitting around in pretty ratty shape, but wanted to send one out and have it all redone and then just swap em out. Anyone know of a place that does this stype of work? I refuse to use a storebought leather wrap around repair thingy. they look so tacky. Anyways, if anyone knows of a place that does this, please let me know. It doesn't have to be REAL leather, imitation would be cool. Thanks fellas

You might want to try carmotorsports . On their site they say they specialize in re-covering steering wheel for certain cars, but they do re-cover others as well. Best bet would be to email them and ask them. They are the only one that I know that does this.

Yeah, I checked them out, 250.00 seems a bit. I forget how much thirdgenresource wanted for recovered wheels, i think it was around the same, but you had to turn in a core and in return you got a refurbished wheel. I will have to do some checking, but thanks bro

your best bet is to try a leather boot repair type place, i asked how much it would be to redo my wheel and they said 30 bucks.

Hi Chuck

I was wondering if you still do steering recovering?
If so how much do you charge?

Looks like they do quality work. But I don't think they take care of the badly weathered and abused metal that our steering wheels have. Or do they?

So take a lot of pics. Take leather off and padding. Include the pics and leather in the box with the wheel and have your wheel powder coated and send it all together to redline. Or paint and finish the wheel yourself and include it with all the stuff

Hhhmm. Sounds more expensive now that you mentioned power coated. But then that'll last years with that method.

Guys, you get what you pay for. You spend cheaply, you get cheap quality. If you want a cheap cover, go to Pep Boys. If you want something different, but quality done, it will cost. Why is everybody so cheap on this board?

Re: Where can I get my 89 IROC steering wheel recovered?

Not always so. I paid $20 to have all my burnt MOSFET chips removed and resoldered in my RF 600a4 back in 2000. Still bumps to this day. Cheap fix in Mexico for a powerful amplifier.
