If you clear over top of clear that is already peeling. What do you think is going to happen?

Just repaint it. To reclear coat the car, you'd still have to sand it and mask it so why not spray some paint on it while you're at it?

Whole different world out there in the paint business. Cost a fortune just to buy materials to do a nice job. Last car I painted, metallic silver, cost me about 400 bucks just for paint, additives and so forth. Got a super paint job on my 88 this week for 1000 dollars complete, body only. Have a lot of detailing to do but this was a super deal IMHO. Talk to people and shop around.

Yeah, i work at a body shop, so i do this for a livin, just get the car resprayed, depending on what paint you decide to use, thats what the cost will be, but i suggest you take down as much of the old paint as you can b4 u spray, so you dont get that many times repainted look, adn its a lot better over time for hte paint look and quality itself. Use DuPont Chromabase system, its done nothing but wonders for me, and have it done by a shop, cuz its not really as easy as sprayin some paint on, its a science...temp, hardener type, ammount of paint...there is a lot of things to consider for a quality paintjob.
