Hey guys, I've got another option for 6-speed *****. This is especially great if you have line lock or nitrous or something that you'd like to trigger with a button on the shift ****. It's called the "Sidewinder" and it's made by Hurst. It is a white ball with the 6 speed pattern on it and a momentary contact button installed in it. I just got one and installed it in my car and I love it. Here's a pic of the interior that shows it (please pardon the NASTY old floor mats, they're just protecting the new carpt
)

Sorry I don't have a closer pic of the shift ****, the battery in my digital camera died just as I was going to snap one
I'm quite happy with the **** though

im still driving with no **** because i really want that sidewinder, and i havent gotten around to ordering it yet.
im planning on getting a line lock and having the button work with it. (with a arm/disarm switch elsewhere of course... for saftey.)

Yeah, mine's wired up to the line lock, but I don't have any arm/disarm switch because the button will only do something when you've already hit the brakes and then hit the button. I'm sure an arm/disarm switch wouldn't be a bad idea, but another nice thing about the Sidewinder **** is that the switch really isn't in a position where you accidentally hit it. It's right there if you want it, but it's not right in the way where you'll hit it by mistake if you get what I mean? Anyway, I'm quite happy with mine, and I'm thrilled to finally have the line lock wired up (it's been plumbed in ever since I got the car back on the road, I just couldn't decide what to do for a switch until now). Now my rear tires are cowering in fear

well, heres my idea.....
i have a 3 position line lock arming switch... one way is off..
second way is line lock and rev limiter on redline.....
third way is line lock and rev limiter at launch RPM... heres my idea:
i back into the burnout box with the switch in 2nd position... i do my burnout.
before i stage, i flip the switch... now when i hold the line lock, i have the rev limiter at launch RPM.
even if i goof a little now, it wont rev to far..... when the light comes on, i'll let go of the line lock and the car will launch without launching so hard that i lose traction...
idea being to make me more consistant... not faster, but more consistant.

Very cool
I didn't even think about it in that manner. That would help launches quite a bit I imagine!

has anyone who recently bought one of these ***** had any problems?
I picked up a 1630016 and..
1) the thread in the shifter ball is wrong (the backing nut was correct)
2) the word "hurst" is on the left and ride side of the ball in addition to the shifter pattern. kind of ugly and defintely not correct for the classic appearance.
