Black plastic interior cleaning...?

Every time I clean my console shift plate, it dries a pasty white-ish. How do you properly clean these?

I've tried soap and water, 409, Fantastic... etc etc.

Armor all is good, but it makes it slimy... and I hate that!

I cleaned mine real good with denatured alcohol, painted them with krylon fusion paint, and then hit them with clearcoat. Now I just have to wipe them occasionally.
