Door Panel Restoration

Alright guys, what I want to do is completely recover my door panels with new fabrics. As you can see in the pic I have purple door panels. I hate them. So I’m going to buy me some leather/pleather materials and recover this.

My question is should I use the same color leather for the entire door panel or what? Also has anyone recovered theirs with black leather, if so how did it look? Post pics. If you want to see how the rest of the car looks I’ll post a few pics but you can go to my car domain sight and see them best,

But here is a pic,

And yes that is a fur headliner; I’ve been the only one on the boards to do it.

heh, well with all of that "fur" you should keep the purple door panels, it completes the pimp look.

On a more serious note...the bottom half of the door panels will get kicked and scuffed by your feet quite a bit if you drive the car a lot. With that in mind is why GM used carpet on the bottom half of the panels. If you go with leather it will get all scuffed up and nasty looking in no time. So I would go with either carpet on the bottom...or even polished stainless steel and then your choice of leather colors on top.

hmmm, i should consider this.

Actually the fur isn't pruple, contrarty to beliefe, its grey/dark grey. It was never supposed to be a pimp look, it was just a cool i dea that turned out even better then i thought it would.

SO i think i'll need some grey carpet for down there, and some black leather.

I'm gonna get some leather seats to finish off the look. Well i hope their gonna be leather. The seats i wanted are sold out on ebay and there havn't been anymore since then. One of the d00ds that got a set, pasky, says they are as comfortable as can be.

If i cant get them then its off the the wonderful world of the new summit racing seats for $200 each. But them leathers seats i was talking about were $260 for two. I also heard that the summit seats dont fit very well, a lot of modifacation is needed.

see the summit seat in the attachment
