No T-Top thread, so I posted here
Hiya
I bought a 1984 Pontiac Trans Am recently, and other than having a few electrical issues now (which I posted about already lol), I was wondering, is there an "easy" way to convert the hardtop to T-Tops?
I know there isn't any "magic wand" to do it, but this is what I was thinking on doing, I just wanted to get other peoples opionion before I started chopping the hell out of my car.
I was thinking on going to a scrap yard, finding an 3rd gen F-Body with T-Tops, having them hack off the roof, from the top of the windshield back to the hatchback, and taking that home with me.
Measure everything up on the hacked T-Top, cut the roof on my car (for the T-Tops, not cut the whole roof off) and take the hardware off of the old roof and putting it on the my car.
#1) Is this a stupid idea?
#2) Does anybody think this'll work?
Thanks!

Well, this should'nt be here, but if you search for "t-top conversion" you will get many long debates over wether or not the cost to do it right is worth it. Oh, and there is't an easy or cheap way to do it.

GM also added extra reinforcing on the T top cars to make up for the lost body structure, so that would have to be added as well. In my opinion it would be easier to buy a car with T's thatto convert.

its been discussed many times before and unless you want to do a LOT of fab work and reinforcing (and youre good at it) then you'd be better off just getting a donor t-top car and swap all your stuff into it
