Harwood Hood? Help me er Shoot me!

OK guys first post, but iv been reading threw these forums for a long time and i love em. I recently picked up a Harwood Fiberglass Cowl Induction hood for my car. Now i figured that there would be minor fitting involved seeing as it was a "bolt on" hood right? Well it fits good along the fenders but on the nose it dosent sit right. It over hangs slightly and the lip of the new hood breaks the smooth transition that the stock hood had from the nose to hood. I read about the packaging lip?? that Harwood puts on there hoods, and i removed some of this on the leading edge to get it to close right, but im afraid if i take more off the lip ill end up with a gap between the nose and the leading edge of the hood? also i fear that by taking more of the lip off the hood will far below the level of the fenders along the side?? anyone who has this hood please help me, tell me what u had to do to get this to fit right and have a smooth transition from the nose to the hood. For 450 bucks i was expecting a little bit better fit, thinking u get what u pay for but im rather disappointed. I also read about people having problems with air flowing up from the headlights and warping the hood, would a set of hood pins be a good investment??? anyone who can help me id love u, otherwise im ready to start bashing my head into it. Thanks fer yer time guys.

Those hoods are a hit or miss. Some fit perfect some are really bad. I would just keep sandin the edge off until it fits the way u want it to. Other than that ur really not goin to get it to fit perfect. but keep tryin

Have you tried adjusting the hood latch? You can loosen the bolts and slide it up and down to where you want it. You can also adjust the "hood bumpers" down to help with fitment.

yes i had to move the latch to get it to close and lock right and i also messed with the hood bumpers to keep the right height along the fenders but i still have the bad fit between the hood and nose i talked to my neighbor who owns a body shop, he said i had to be careful not to get into the layers in the fiberglass if i sand to much off of the leading edge ill end up getting into them, but hes pretty old school more of a lead head then the bondo type man but i figure he knows what hes talking about, anyone who has delt with removing the lip off the leading edge please help me, i figure it has to be sanded off fully but im still afraid of having a gap between the leading edge of the hood and the nose, i also tried shimming the nose up to meet the hood edge, but didnt make it fit much better, ill try to get u guys some pics maybe that would help get some ideas going. thanks alot u guys that responded - jon
