I have the aluminum 15 inch 5 spoke RS wheels and was wondering if i used some stripper from wal mart if it would cloud the aluminum? I will be wet sanding the machined surface on them and then doing a shot of grey on the non machined part. And to follow it up im going to clear the whole thing. But i was just wondering if the stripper would cloud the aluminum.

 

i did mine several times to get them all clean and stripped. i didn't have any problems with the aluminum clouding or pitting. good luck

 

chemical strippers don't affect steel so I don't think aluminum would be any different. especially when your using cheapo wal-mart strippers.

 

You want Air Craft Striper this is the name brand its designed specifically for aluminium and is the only thing I have found that will cut it, especially clear coated wheels. You will need 1 gal of it, buy the pour type not the spray type.

it can be had at I know autozone, and most parts stores, and I beleive I have seen it at lowes or Home depot.
