GP on Hawks 5-inch Rear Spoiler!!

Bruce Hawkins, owner of Hawks Third Gen Parts and advertiser on this site, has authorized me to set up a group purchase on their three-piece 5-inch rear spoiler.

There seemed to be great interest in this rear spoiler last year but no GP was ever set up. I'd like to get the spoiler so I'm going to get it rolling to see how much of an interest there is. According to Hawks' website, they normally retail for $349 but has been discounted to $299 If we can get a commitment for ten total (I count as one), he will sell them for $250. These prices do not include shipping.

I've attached the only two pics I have of the spoiler. There are more on Hawks' site, but they show an unpainted spoiler which in my opinion, does not do it justice. This spoiler is a direct bolt-on for the 1982-86, 91-92 Camaros with the three-piece spoiler without the third brake light. I myself will be making the necessary changes to fit it on my 87, which has a third brake light.

If you are seriously interested, please e-mail me! Thanks all.

I don't know if this is wisdom or foolishness, but may I suggest we build up the GP through income-tax return time? Then, anyone who says they need money will be able to back up their claim that got the spoiler produced in the first place.

i would LOVE this spoiler on my car..... but i have a vert and its a lil bit more than a "bolt on" if we could work out some sort of way to get it on a vert i'd spend my tax return on it for sure.

Add me to the GP. I just got hit by identity theft though, so if I gotta pay by credit card I'm gotta gave to wait 7-10 days for my new card to arrive. As long as that's not a problem, or it's okay to pay by money order...I'm good for it.
He'll probably quit making them before he drops the price any lower than that but I still gotta ask....would he go any lower if we got 15 or 20 people in?
Wille, just email me with directions for whatever I need to do if it's a go.
Thanks for getting this rolling.

Shipping cost is completely dependant on method and distance. If you absolutely must know, contact the seller and ask.

My first response, was WOW THAT IS SWEEEEET, but for $250, come on, that's almost the price of a hood, for only a little bit more spoiler..... If we could get 50 people to buy at $150, now we're talking.

I'm willing to go as high as $250 on one, considering that there is only one source for them.....but it's not worth anymore than that to me. I think it would be really cool if we got more people if he would drop it down lower than that, but judging by the lack of response on this thread....I doubt we even need to worry about it. IMHO, we'll be lucky to even get the 7 or 8 other serious commitals aside from me and willie to even do this.
db
Heck, I can't even get a donation of a junk 9bolt to get the support cover made for that gp, so needlesstosay........it's hard to get things going around here.

Guys,

Let's keep this thread as clean as possible. If you are not serious about purchasing one, do not reply.

I'm willing to go as high as $250 on one, considering that there is only one source for them.....but it's not worth anymore than that to me.

I completely agree. The word "monopoly" comes to mind. Do you guys realize his normal price is $349??? When ASCD was making this piece a couple of years ago, the price was $199. I still have one of their ads stating this....

I think it would be really cool if we got more people if he would drop it down lower than that, but judging by the lack of response on this thread....I doubt we even need to worry about it.

We're thinking alike on this.

IMHO, we'll be lucky to even get the 7 or 8 other serious commitals aside from me and willie to even do this.

Check out my e-mail to Bruce this morning:

It appears that we won't get close to ten units. Can you hold your price for five? I cannot wait for tax refund time as some would want because my car is going into the body shop in about two weeks. I'm definitely going to purchase one, so....

Willie

His response:

Hi,
I will do them for 275 for five or 250 for 10 let me know
Thanks,
Bruce Hawkins

What type of deadline are we talking about here? I'd drop $200 on it easily.

Here's the current status:

Non-commital for one reason or another:
kammi10 (No $$$)
drain89 ($250 max)
RWB____s (Permission from better half needed)
irocet305 (Concerned about total $$$)
omnipotentgoku ($200 max)
john5.7 87Iroc (Deadline dependent & installation on '87)

Definitely In
Me

Nazzz28

At this rate, we might not even make five units at $275. And at $275, some of you might drop out so it would be senseless at this time to put a deadline on. And because I need to order it very soon, it appears this GP won't fly at all unless I get a definite commitment from two others, say, by Monday, March 8th.

John, I'll be installing mine on my '87. The difference in the factory non-third brake light spoiler and the wider '87-'90 piece is the location of the holes on the quarter panels and deck lid. I installed the wider factory '87 spoiler on my '86 years ago. All that was required was to ream out a couple of the holes. Because the Hawks' spoiler bolts onto cars with the smaller factory spoiler, I'm assuming that all that needs to be done is to ream out some of the holes to fit it onto an '87. You'll also have to make some sort of provision for the third brake light.

Willie

Not to sound like a jerk, but maybe if you had answered my questions, I would have definitely commited....Like I said I am interested....I just asked to find out what the total cost was, and how payment would be rendered.

Your original statement:

I am VERY interested. i am just concerned about the details....such as shipping and final cost entailed. I have yet to file the taxes.....was gonna just put it towards bills.....will set aside some of it for this spoiler. And oh yeah, cash, check, money order or CC...?

The only question I read here is about payment method. This is handled between you and the supplier. I have nothing to do with this issue. I do not collect funds, nor disburse them to Hawks'. All I do is supply a list of names of people who are involved in the GP. Hope this answers your question.

That being said, would you like to commit to this?

Come on people! We need just one more and we can get $25 off of their current sale price. That's a total of $75 off regular price.
One more comittal.

Okay, here's how it works. Everyone who's in must e-mail me their names, your real names that is. I'll submit all our names to Bruce Hawkins. I can do this as soon as I receive an e-mail from everyone who's in. I'll post here again when I have all your names. At that time, you can place your order directly to Hawks. Make sure you identify yourself as being in the GP at TGO. That's it.

I'm just as anxious as everyone else to get this thing going, so send me your names!!

onto (and everyone else who is interested in this) it's very simple:
call hawk's tell Bruce that you're in on the 5" spoiler gp and you want to know the total with shipping. He'll take you're info and as soon as the GP is met you will be billed. He can charge by credit card or by paypal. If neither of those are an option for you, he can probably make arrangements for money order or cashiers check.

Or...better yet, follow willie's directions since he's the one kind enoug to execute this thing for us. A quick phone call or email to Hawk's will get you an exact quote on shipping.

Any of the above will work. I'm requesting names so I can submit to Bruce so he'll know that we have FIVE participating. This way, he'll know the price is $275 + shipping.

Willie, I sent you an e-mail. I am just wondering if we are going to wait for a while before placing orders to see if 10 people will commit to save the extra $25. If not that is fine I will place my order whenever I here from you.

Willie, I sent you an e-mail. I am just wondering if we are going to wait for a while before placing orders to see if 10 people will commit to save the extra $25. If not that is fine I will place my order whenever I here from you.

I've been thinking about this. Here's my angle: It seemed to be like pulling teeth to get four other commitals. I'm guessing that it will take weeks, maybe months, to get five more. By then, some guys might change their minds. I feel that for $25, it's not worth the effort and we should just do this thing now. What do you think?

That is fine with me. At least I will be saving $25 off of what I was going to purchase it for.

I will be in after filing my taxes this weekend. Should be a quick and painless e file. I did say I "was concerned about final cost involved"....that was my way of saying I needed more details. Sorry for the confusion.

So I am looking at about $300. Not to shabby. I am defintiely in after taking care of the taxes. Is there a dead line? I may just pay with my credit card and when I get the tax money, pay that off.

Okay guys, I just talked to Bruce and placed my order. I gave him all your names and told him that you guys would all be calling him to place your order.

Because this is a GP, he has to wait until everyone has placed their order before making the parts. He currently has none in stock. Click on the banner at the top of the page to get his phone number. The sooner the better!!

My order is in. Please post here after you've placed yours. He takes all major credit cards. Thanks!!

Willie
