Problem being i dont have any credit cards or paypal and my dads liek you pay me the cash and i'll order it. SO he called this mornign and talked to bruce and got everythign straightened out theyre not billing mine for two weeks but it is ordered so i dont mess up the works or anything liek that. So mine will show up later than anyone else's but atleast i still get the deal. 25 dollars to ship it to colorado!

Well, I was thinking the same thing. Here's an e-mail I sent to Bruce:
I don't know how I miscounted initially but I now count six:
(listed our names here)
I got an e-mail from Paul stating that he talked to you already, so that makes a total of five that have ordered. "ontogenesis" is the only holdout at this point. Am I correct? And if I am, is it true that the five that have ordered is sufficient for you to go thru with this order? We don't have to wait on "ontogenesis"....
Willie
...and here is Bruce's response:
Hi,
YEs but we still need "ontogenesis"
Thanks,
Bruce Hawkins
Hawks Third Gen Parts
How would you interpret this?? Maybe a call to Bruce on Monday is in order??

If the 6th person doesn't choose to order one it should make no difference on this. Here is Bruce's words via email to Wille:
"Hi,
I will do them for 275 for five or 250 for 10 let me know
Thanks,
Bruce Hawkins

I certainly hope Bruce is a man of his words, maybe he just needs politely reminded of his price that was agreed upon.

I just found an old article from late 1984 on the IROC series and the "new" 1985 IROC-Z. Look at the attached pic. Compare the rear spoilers. Discount the aluminum "add-on" on the IROC Camaro but look at the height difference. Doesn't the IROC Camaro's spoiler look familiar? Pretty cool I think!

Got mine today, 03-19-04. Nice piece but I found out something that's going to make it slightly more difficult to modify mine (hush hush for now). The pieces are solid fiberglass, not hollow as I'd assumed.

Well guess what? Hawks' told me the spoiler is solid fiberglass..... WRONG. Ya see, I'm incorporating a third brake light. It's hollow like I thought.... In any case, that makes my job a whole lot easier. Now why would he tell me it's solid???? hmmm....

maybe he meant that it's ONLY fiberglass and not SOLID fiberglass....some companies do the rough shape in wood or foam then cover over it with fiberglass...i dunno

I'm extremely glad the spoiler is hollow.... I've been working on my new project this weekend. Because I own an '87, it has the third brake light. I wanted to retain this in the new spoiler. The lamp assembly I'll be using is a super bright red 48-LED light bar. My first attempt uses smoked plexi as the cover. It's only 3/8" wide and looks dinky on such a tall spoiler.
Here's a pic. The shiny "thing" on the left side of the plexi is one of two small screws I used. I didn't have any black screws handy but both will be changed. That is unless I decide to replace the smoked plexi with a clear piece. But for now, it'll do.

Yep it's over. Third brake lights are mandatory on all autos since 1986. Since mine's an '87.... I wouldn't want to break any laws, now....

Actually the third brake light in there looks more custom because its small. I take it you trial fitted the spoiler before you hacked it up. If so how'd it fit mine will be here soon.

I haven't tried the ends yet, only the center. Because mine's an '87, the two centermost studs are in the wrong position. Either I drilled two more holes in my decklid or I grind the two down. Because I have an "access" slot in the bottom (not seen when installed) for the LED's, I decided to saw off the two center studs and reposition the two studs. As far as trial fitting, once I got these two studs relocated, I had to ream out (ever so slightly) the two end holes in the decklid. It wasn't much. The spoiler slides right on now!! You shouldn't have any problems with it fitting if it's anything like mine.

Looks good Willie! Very good craftsmanship. From your experience tinkering with the spoiler....what would be the feasibilityy of modding it to use the stock 87-90 style third brake light lens? Although I do plan on replacing those damn oem bulbs with LED's inside the housing.
So who is gonna be the first person to post high res pics of the 5 inch spoiler installed and painted?
I really like the 5 inch spoiler but shipping to Hawaii is close to $100. So when all is said and done (even with a GP price) this is close to a $500 mod (inc paint). Pretty steep for a spoiler!! I'll have to live vicariously through those pics, so post em uP!!

I didn't get my spoiler yet so I probably won't be the first. I will post some pics when it is all done, but that won't be until the end of April. I am waiting to get my goodmark cowl hood, and the rest of my suspension stuff before I get into it.

It's doable but you'll need to glass the two screw supports, which means you'll have to cut some sort of access holes/slot. I did so on the bottomside. And as long as you have access to the inside, moving the two center studs should be simple.
Although I do plan on replacing those damn oem bulbs with LED's inside the housing.
Seems like the only way to go these days.
So who is gonna be the first person to post high res pics of the 5 inch spoiler installed and painted?
Hopefully the first to finish. I've been tinkering with adding dual stripes to the hood and deck, so I'll probably just spray can the spoiler white, then add the striping. If I like it, I'll have it redone at a paint shop. If I don't, I'll have it redone at a paint shop! I was thinking of having my hood reshot anyways. At least I'll get to see what it looks like this way at minimal cost.

yea 500 is a tad steep but just htink you'd probaly be the only guy in hawaii with one. As soon as i get mine i'm gonna rattle can it and throw it on. I know i said i would test fit it then put it away till paint but i know that aint gonna happen. I'll probaly have it painted and on the day i get it.
Actually, about 3 weeks ago, I saw this guy driving a black IROC-Z in my area and it looked like he took the actual 2nd gen 5 inch spoiler and hacked it up and kind of attached it to his car. It looked horrible! LOL!! I know the Hawks piece is going to look 100x better.

BTW, has anyone else in the GP received theirs yet?

I trial-fitted mine before taking it to be painted and proportionately, it looks good. Way back when the third gen was introduced, I thought the taillamps/spoiler were out of proportion because everyone was "used" to the second gen. The taillamps were not as tall and the three-piece spoiler was much taller. Then on the third gen, the taillamps grew in height and the spoiler shrunk. My first look at the rear and I thought it was funny looking / out of proportion. This spoiler evens things out in my opinion -- it does not look overly big -- it just puts things back in proportion.

I am going to be getting a goodmark cowl hood, and I think that this spoiler will even out the front and back of the car. The stock three piece on my 84 looks really small and would probably look even smaller with the cowl hood up front.
Willie - My brother in law has a 79 z28 and comparing the two cars his spoiler makes mine look tiny.
