Has anyone tried this? I was thinking of pulling my covers off, throwing them in the washer on delicate cycle, and air dry. Then, reinstalling them. Do you think it would work ok without messing them up? Maybe I should take them to the dry cleaners.

I thought this post was quite funny, Im a GM tech and just did this to mine last winter, I have some cool tricks for you,

use a hacksaw blade to get headrest retainer to let you pull up and off, (stick blade down along side headrest slidebar)

I had my seats in basement, you need a big clean work area,
get a pair of hog ring pliers (jaws fit & crimp wire rings),
and some hogg rings.
This is easy if you take your time, remove the hog rings and you will also see rods in cover cloth, remove them,(reinstall them when putting back together) Turn covers inside out as you remove them, reinstall them the same way you removed them, starting with the cover inside out, working your way down, go slow, this way you wont have twisted covers

I wanted to dryclean mine, you cant because of the bead that runs the seam will melt, they told me. & a washing mechane is so not good because it will twist beads and possibly break them

Fill the bathtub with warm water, and laundy soap, and pretend your making wine, you will not belive how much dirt comes out, I did it about 3-5 times, untell perfectly clean. wash covers turned out the normal direction.

Swap the upper seat covers with each other when you reinstall them, the old holes from recliner assembly will be hidden by the center console, now the out side edge of your seats will look like new, no wear from climing in and out, & you dont notice wear on inside edge of seats when there in the car.

Using a new razer I sliced my upper seat foam (your lower back area) open (from bottom up, 1" from surface) and added a little foam insert, like lumbar support, and glued it back together, now my back dosent hurt, camero seats are too cup shaped for me. I also used fabreze on foam

You will not belive your seats will look and smell like new, mine even after one summer look so good. you dont notice the lumbar insert (actualy they look plump and new!) and they feel better on long days crusing, I couldent find the original hog rings that are better, so i rebent each one to correct shape , 1hr work,

Now my only problem is I want to do rear seats cuz they washed so nice!

cool. I had cleaned them once with a steam cleaner, but they just don't look clean anymore. I just bought a used seat, in great shape, but it was filthy. I started cleaning it last night with shout. I has turned out pretty good. Now that someone has washed their covers with a degree of success, I think I'll try it that way. Thanks for the help!

Hi guys

I threw mine in the washing machine, it didn't hurt them, but because of the sponge padding, they tended to just float around in the washer and didn't come out all that much cleaner.

Take care, be good...
