Idea for new rear bumper cover

I was messing around drawing earlier today when i drew the rear of my iroc and made a custom bumper cover. Has anyone made a custom rear cover? Mine just comes down further and is notched in the middle like the corvette for a center exhaust.

if i was any good with mspaint id show ya kinda what it was like, my drawing is sweet though. or i think it is anyway

instead of it angling back up after the rear wheels have it stay flat, or a slight angle would be nice. kinda at the same angle the 91 - 92 ground effects angle up in the front.

the one you can order is about what i want. except i dont want one with the 2 center things. i'd end up cutting those off and fiberglassing it smooth again. it would look good with my ram air hood and modified spoiler(s).

iroc2nv - the wing is a little absurd. and no im not flaming you im stating my opinion hear me out before you get angry. Alright i don't like the wing as it is... there thats in the open, but it does look decent on your car. i would like the wing if it didnt sit so high off the deck lid. if it was about say 4 - 5 inches shorter i'd definately have one on my car. a smooth car deserves a smooth spoiler to match the body lines. just something to think about in the future. make it shorter. if someone can do a photoshop of the spoiler about 5 inches or so shorter and see what it looked like. im interested how that would look.

That's a theoretical photoshop of Toyota Supra tailights (not real).

Just out of curiosity, could you please tell me the point of derailing a thread with negative comments towards someone's car who's just trying to actually contribute something to the thread? Do tell; it's astonishing the number of people that do so, but it's just not something I understand. Enlighten me with justification... no really, please do.

Anytime you post a pic of your car you make it open to peoples comments. Dont like it? DONT READ IT. I dont see people complaining when people say "nice car" but as soon as someone doesnt like the car someone gets all bent out of shape. If you dont understand this then you probably have the mental power of a sea sponge.

ALSO everyone does what they think is nice to their car, we dont do mods to suite someone else and im sure iroc2nv doesnt give two ****s if we like his car or not.

its cool guys, whats this bull**** about trashing everyone because they posted their car? he didnt ask for an opinion? i was just suggesting it might look a hell of a lot better if it was lower. but i guess everyone has to give an opinion wether or not anyone asked for one. im guilty myself but i didnt talk **** about his spoiler i gave him a suggestion that would make it look better in my opinion, if he doesnt like my idea its not gonna hurt my feelings its his car he can do what he damn well pleases with it.

Opinions are one thing, but Iroc2nv's car wasn't what the thread was about....apparently some of you felt like trashing instead of helping.

I dont see people complaining when people say "nice car" but as soon as someone doesnt like the car someone gets all bent out of shape.
I really hope I don't need to explain the difference between the two.

Rear bumpers are tricky. I think your original idea sounded pretty cool.....can you scan your original drawing?

i cant but my friend can ill have her do it tomorrow, and im glad you agree with me. its basically the stock bumper cover extended down but notched in the middle for a center exhaust. I love the way a center exhaust looks, redraif did it (i believe it was her) and it looks awesome on the bird. I had an idea to use the LT1 tips instead of round ones though.

] Who cares if it was, when you post a pic of your car its open to comments. I dont see a moderator crying about "His cars not what the threads about" when people say nice car so dont cry when people dont like it.
BTW i didnt comment on the original subject of the thread because it has been talked about before.

I like Iroc2nv's car. The work on it is amazing and it looks good in black (my bird is black , I'm partial ) Although I do agree that the wing is a bit tall...I did a quick chop of a lower wing. I think the wing looks good otherwise

How come more people don't try and fiberglass? I've been trying to get into fiberglass, but I live in an apt. I've only dabbled a bit. Had I a garage or back yard I know I'd be messing around with the stuff more. Getting junked bumpers and such to practice on. I think more people need to try and experiment and stop complaining about parts not being made for our cars.

I think more people dont exp with fiberglass because they think its harder than it really is or they dont know how to get the stuff needed to start out making things with it. Theirs a guy on sounddomain with a berretta (sp) who made a front spoiler out of wood and bondo cant tell its wood by looking at it though. Its all about what you want to do with your car not what someone else likes. And although imo i dont like his car i admire the time and work hes put into it.

Ridiculous, that's all there is to it.

If you would like to cruise like a foreign car go for it (honestly, that's not a flame, go get a celica) for goodness sake... stop trying to make our cars into something that they're not... Japanese.

My $.02

Yeah man it sucks not having a garage. Start here at Fibre Glast . They have a bunch of books and videos as well as supplies. I've read through the website and found it pretty helpful.

Who cares what the topic is about, that car needs to be trashed. I mean, WTF are you thinking? Different is one thing but shees. Nothin' personal man, but when you do stuff like that to a car, you better be ready to take a beating. I do respect your originality though.

I kinda like the idea of the centermount, but it may look kinda funky if you lower the rear valence enough to make it happen. I always wanted to notch the factory bumper on my IROC and use two Porsche Boxter tips opposing each other to make a half moon type deal. Kinda hard to explain.

I was just talking about xtended the sides of the back down about 4 - 5 inches and leave it notched in the center for the exhaust. Or come all the way down and put the tips through the cover like the stangs do.

If it weren't for people like you, I wouldn't have to.

You want input ?

Center exhaust is nice but, there is one major drawback to doing it. The f-body has a deep trunkwell recess which makes it very hard to do unlike a corvette. The well recess comes down to nerely level with the line of the bumpers which, if you are to put a center exhaust, you have to go around it and, it also limits the tips you can apply to it. The depth, as I've answered in a prvious post, cennot support the tips alot of people seem to have chosen, mainly, the 4th gen Z tips.
The problem, the tips taper down over the length of 10" roughly, this would make the tip stick out greatly looking awkward.
To resolve this, the rear valance would need to either be flush or stick out a little (the idea 87 was toying with). The other problem is, even with having the extra room, the piping needs a sever 90° bend to go around the recess well making for even worse exhaust flow. Even if pulled off with a stock rear valance, the piping would show.

If you wanted to offer anything, you could have told him to do a search for ChevyKen. He made a concept PS of his vert with extended stock gfx and 4 oval vette tips a good while back when this subject was brought up before.

If your head wasn't so far up you -ss with seeing yourself talk.. you could have even done the search and offered this link...

Let's keep it tech related, and not turn this into a flame war. It will stay open....................for now.

ima big fan of it iroc2nv is a customizer and i love to see that.
ppl who love to be different.
ppl dont like my hood but i do.
ppl dont liek his front/rear and spoiler i do its different.
i dont care for the spoiler look sbetter short but still is very nice that all that work is done to his car and turned out nice.
i'd be afraid if i done that my work would be wavy or lumpy or just flat out crack then id cry after that much trouble.
i agree tho if i wanted it id have it done so i'd have no worries lol.
very nice job iroc2nv
ive seen it in other threads.
there are some points i dont care for but i just sorta liek anythgin thats not stock and truly custom.
ppl love the import lok but i cant see that much in a junker that wont run and tryin to make it run were as w/ iroc2nv's car u get best of both worlds.
u knwo its a gm or chevy so u know its good.
u can run a v8 even big block if u want and get huge power w/o the turbo blower nitrous import waste of cash.
for say 5tho in a v8 u can have 10000000 times more power torque n speed then 10 tho in a damned import.
but if u are after the look he got the best of everythgin a true american car and muscle w/ the import flash.
very nice well done custom
