How to paint a car ?

Ok i got compressor , gun , what kinda paint do i need .. I really like to do stuff myself .. if some one could point me in the right direction or help me out that would be GREAT! .

OKay questions

How many gallons of paint should i need ?

how much clearcoat ?

Where should I buy the paint ?

How long should I let it sit for befor I can take it back on the road?


any one suggest good paint .. I want a nice shinny black finish ..

me and my dad paint cars and when i painted my trans am we used ppg concept paint. it already has the clearcoat mixed with the base so it is a one step process, it took one gallon to paint the whole car, then later i bought a cowl hood and there was enough paint for it as well, I recomend ppg or house of kolor paint, they seem to be the best for us, but mainly ppg because it is so much cheaper than house of kolor, but go to the local ppg retailer and they can give you everything you need to paint it yourself, just let them know what you are doing and what condition the car is in
