need help with 3rd brake light

Transmission: 5 speed auto
need help with 3rd brake light

i have a 86 camaro,so my 3rd brake light is on top of my back window.i have never been able to get it to work,i've changed the bulbs,checked the strips on the glass and connections,but still nothing.is there a fuse for this light?all my other lights work fine.anybody got any ideas what else i can check?Thanks

Try jiggling it around a little and see wha hapens. sometimes if it doesnt sit in just the right spot it wont work. On my Sport Coupe I had to wedge something under the top end to get it to work.

you should check around the housing where the bulb plugs into for a stress crack. i had two so far that had a unvisible crack that kept the bulb contacts from touching. best bet is to just remove it cuz even if you do fix it it will just fail again soon.

i was thiking of taking it off,what would i use to fill in the holes in the glass?i'm not sure how would that look either.could i just swap the hatch with a 87-90 style?i should have switched them before i sold my 88 v6 camaro

I bought a new hatch from the boneyard last weekend that didn't have the gap for the third brake light, and defrost strips. It was from an 85 Camaro, but it still fit my car. I think all hatches are the same for any year thirdgen.
