how does the 5 pt harness secure to the cross bar on a the roll cage

I am putting a 6 pt. cage in my car and may get a set of 5 pt racing belts for the track. How does the sholder belts mount to the cross bar on the hoop bar? If it has to be wleded then I need to know so I can wait to paint the cage until the brackets get welded

a few different ways: yeah, you can weld on a tab to the bar. you can also run a bolt through the tubing, but it isn't the best way. A recommended method I was shown at a tech meeting once required boring a hole in the crossbar and welding in a threaded collar that you could thread the bolt into...

and of course you can get the wrap-around style belts, but if you use them you must have some sort of device to keep them from sliding back and forth on the bar. most cars I have seen and teched use a u-shaped bolt to accomplish this. hope this helps.

I got a 1/2" Stainless steel bolt and nut and welded the nut onto the cross bar, now the heat of the weld will mess up the nut so you will have to tap that after it's welded on to make it easier to take on and off when needed.
