Weatherstrippiong questions

I am getting ready to have new weatherstrips put on my car because my car is rusting underneath my current strips. Anyways i just recieved my new strips today. I only got the the large strips that go all around the t-top and down the sides of the window. But they are designed diffrent than the strips that are on the car now. The part where the t-top clamps down above the window is flat. My old strips have a flap the the t-tops sits in.
So do I also need to order new strips that go on the actual t-top or are the strips interchangable?
Why are the strips diffrent?
Does anyone have the part number for the strips that go on the t-top?(I,m getting these from gmparts direct)

Thanks for any help

The GM weatherstripping that you can buy from gmparts, hawks, etc are a redesign. I know the stripping on the t-tops themselves was changed, but not sure if the piece you have was changed also.

Yes the large piece that goes around the roof is redesigned where the strip on the t-top meets the the roof strip above the window has a diffrent design. So is this design better than the original? Do I also need to replace the deflecter piece on the t-top or is that compatable with both types of weatherstrips?

There's a new plastic deflector piece, if it's the part I'm thinking off. The part that some people paint body color is unchanged, though.

I just read the other weatherstripping thread, and then came to this one...

That's what I got when I went and tried to get a new one for my firebird after someone broke into my car. They said they no longer make the very outside piece (the lipish looking one that goes on the outside of the window).
