I had the same problem with mine. The blinking of the can be three things.

1. You have a short in the unit. (most likely)
2. sending unit from transmission is not working.
3. sending unit from distrbutor is not working.

The digital dash blinks if you go over 4500 RPM also it blinks when traveling over 85 MPH.

I need a extra light box if anyone has one. Thanks Daniel
