fiberglassing over plastic?

I was wondering if I can fiberglass over various plastic pieces in our cars such as pillars, sail panels (what is around the speaker not the cloth cover thing), rear hatch area, dash? I am looking for a nice smooth paintable finish with a nice shine to it, kinda like real smooth glossy plastic. Any other suggestions to get this? thanks fo the help fellow f-budys

why? you would have so much time and money it wouldn't be worth it....unless you were making molds that is.

just use a good thick primer, sand it smooth and paint it. i tried with my own and even with out clear it came out way to shiney....i need to find a paint or sprayable product that looks close to the newer factory textures.

thanks kandie, im looking for a smooth glass finish, i will be adding some mods but to certain areas. Do you think I can get the same look with the primed sanded plastic as I can with the fiberglass? Just looking for suggestions here, I'm not going for the texture or color of the original plastic, trying something different here with these extra interior pieces from the boneyard, thanks again

youd have to sand the fibreglass smooth too.........

Use thick primer liek kandied said then sand the primer smooth......might take a few coats if the primer is thin to get everything level.
