3rd brake light replacement bulbs

First I am not sure if this is the right place for this. Just to let everyone know I was in radio shack today and I asked for replacement bulbs for my third brake light that is mounted in the spoiler the little halogen bulbs and guess what they sell them for $2.00 a piece versus $8.00 at walmart or the auto stores. Just thought I would pass that on to save others a few bucks.

Yeppers knew that. Use to have the part number around here somewhere.

The one that you get at like Shucks or somewhere like that is normally 10 bucks for 1 bulb were radio Shack is like $2 for 2 bulbs.

Does anyone know the part number? I had gone to radioshack awhile back with bulb in hand asking about it and they had no clue... I've got the same bulb in my verts spoiler...

I thought everyone knew about the replacement bulbs at Radioshack. Again p/n 272-1177 12V 20watt 2 pin base halogen
$1.99 + tx unless they raised the prices. Don't ask for a 3rd brake light bulb, because they will not know what you are asking for.

I don't know what you did or what bulb you used. I have used the 20watt halogen for over ten years without ever seeing a problem and many others also used them without complaints.
So go to the dealer and pay big bucks for the same item.

Yeah.. I agree w/ the radio shack ones. Plus, they burn out REALLY fast. Most of my bulbs burned out within a couple months.

If you touch them with your bare fingers the oil will result in a early failure on the halogen bulbs. So be warned, its your fault. Same thing will happen with the Dealer one also.

It was so long ago, I can't remember if I put them in by hand or not. I am well aware of the oily fingers issue though. Maybe I wasn't thinking when I did it last time.

Oh well.. LED's are the way to go anyway. I love my LED dome light.

What exactly is it that you like about your LED dome light? I've been thinking about trying one but was worried about paying for possible disappointment. Been there, done that-about a million times! How many leds are in the bulb and what color?
