Big bucks $$$ to get my car painted?
A family friend of ours who's been in the body shop biz for two decades now is gonna paint my car a different color. She quoted me about $3000 for the following work:
-Removing all interior trim pieces
-Stripping the paint down to the metal
-Removing any and all dents in the body
-Primering and painting the car
-Painting just the radiator support in the engine bay
She's completely set up to paint cars-- paint booth and all. The job is expected to take about a month. So does $3000 sound like I'm getting a good deal? Or should I expect more?

thats a good price, very good price if they do a good job, and i work at a body shop so i know...
pretty good for stripping to metal especially however that can cause more problems then its worth if they don't take their time and do it right..........i would be very leary of it. hopefully it works out for you.

yeah that sounds good to me as well, i paid $3700 for mine would have been more but he forgot to put all the shaving in the estimate, so he did it for free, took about 3 weeks, was well worth it though

for a color change that is a bit low if she runs a paint/body shop. I know a guy here that did a paint change on a camaro. It took him about a month or so but he wanted $5000. His shop rate is $50/hr.
Make sure they use good paint and primer.

Ok all she said was that she's been using PPG forever and has had no problems. Incidentally, there was a ford pickup with fresh paint on it and I must say it looked awesome. So I take it PPG is pretty good stuff?

I was quoted $2g for a color change on my car. Included welding in a chunk on the quarter panel, pulling the factory body kit and painting it, and fixing some other rust and pulling a few dents...
that's very low for that amount of work...i would question the shop, that or you owe someone a favor. a complete change done right requires disassemble of the car and other things which cost money. if you get all of that and a great paint job with good chemicals you had better jump on it.
