Taillight lettering and discoloration.
I've got two issues with my taillights. This photo isn't recent and doesn't show the second problem, but I've circled the affected area as it is now.
The first issue is the red Pontiac lettering. Area underlined, but I'm guessing it's a common problem so not sure why I did that, lol. On a previous car, I had this lettering repainted by hand at a body shop. As you can see it's also happened to this car. What's the best method for replacing this lettering though? Back to the body shop to get painted, sticker lettering or ?
The second problem is the circled area. Normally, this area on both sides is completely black, however, in this area it's become very light, kind of smoky colored. I'm not exactly sure why it's doing this, but I do want it fixed. It appears the coloring on the inside of the light is being affected and not on the outside. Is this a known problem and most importantly, how do I fix it since it's a sealed unit? Spray paint? Paint brush paint? (not only that but what kind of paint or whatever) Something else? and also, how, since it is a sealed unit.

http://www.autografics.com/pages/gtas.htm sells a vinyl decal for the ponitac letters.
You may be able to touch up the lighter area with a spray paint tint like VHT Nite Shades.

Those are exactly what I was looking for. One thing more though, on the color of the decals. What red would the originals lettering have been? They've got tomato red, cardinal red, dark red, and on the metallic side, metallic red. Although I'd be surprised if it was metallic. Thanks very much for the information, it's much appreciated!

Not sure on the color. Probably tomato red. Altho a dark red may look better on a dark color car.
There's also the reflective vinyl that lights up when headlights shine on it like it does on the reflector strip on the top of the lights.
