I'm getting ready to spray can my front ground effect and grill. I could only find one place local that can put paint in spray cans and they said they could only do acrylic enamel in a can.. so no clear coat for me Anyways how long should I wait in between coats with this stuff? Ive used it previously but never on something I was quite as concerned about. Also how long should I wait to wetsand and polish the last coat (I'm assuming its going to be orange peel heaven )?

 

acrylic enamel is still good stuff , there is nothing BAD about it. its just that we got alot better stuff now that we use. if ur usin rattle can you've already ruined it so don't worry about flashtime and wetsanding and buffing. i hope your not lookin for a showroom finish from a rattlecan cuz ur not gonna get it , sorry.

 

If you have a auto paint store around you can get a preval sparyer and you can use the same paint that shops use even BC\CC it works like a rattle can you will have to do more sanding after painting then wet sand with 1500 grit and buff

 

think about this....

If your going to wetsand between coats....make sure its dry. The longer you wait...the harder it will be to sand. Before I painted my car..the paint shop told me I could sand it in about 2 days...but I waited a week before I wetsanded it..just to be safe. It was probably dry in 2 days.....and it probably would have been much easier to wetsand.

Since your using a can....the paint won't be as thick...and shouldn't take to long to dry....so..just hit with 1500 or 2000 grit between coats..but make sure it's dry...and you'll be in good shape, good luck man

BTW, are you planning to buff it too?

 

yea I was gonna wetsand and then buff it when its done.. cause im assuming the rattle can will be pretty fugly.. I know theres better stuff I could do but I'm pretty broke so this is basically the position im in its got a huge scratch on it so I cant really make it look any worse, so Im just gonna make do with what I can now
