Hatch Problems
i think the gear nut on my hatch motor is stripped. thew biggest problem however is that it decided to quit while in the UP position. So there's about an inch or so of space between the hatch and the back of the car. I did a search, and wasn't able to find any ways to manually get the motor to lower itself.
Help, please! It's supposed to rain tomorrow!

This Tech article I wrote will help you disassemble and repair it. To manually retract it you'll have to disassemble it to expose the gear nut. At that time it is just as easy to replace the gear nut (available from any GM dealer) as it is to screw down the gear nut to manually retract the latch portion.

k thanks Lon. I'll do that tomorrow.
I think the nut is stripped and the housing is broken, but I want to make sure first. Whatever I need, I'll order from you when you get back from your vacation.
Enjoy it up here in washington! I hope the weather gets better by the time you arrive!

I have a week for the weather to improve, but bad "tourist" weather may be good "fishing" weather.
