Removing rear GFX. Question

I'm removing my rear GFX tomorrow. It's the small pieces just behind the rear wheels that join onto the rear bumper GFX. There are 3 bolts underneath the car, but it looks like there are 2 that are inside also. Is this correct? I'd like to be sure before I start ripping the interior out the car.

Also, how difficult to remove the rear bumper cover itself?

Thanks in advance. The fewer surprises tomorrow the better.

Robert

Yup there are 2 11mm nuts on the inside holding the gfx in place. Just remove your interior panel and spare tire and it will be easy to access it. For the other side, I just stick my arm in the glove box opening that way I dont have to take the whole panel out. The rear bumper cover is pretty easy to take off. There are 3 10mm nuts on each side that hold it in place. After that only those black fasteners hold it on. Those go along the taillights and along the bottom.

Thanks Mike.

I presume the 3 10mm nuts for the bumper are accessed by removing the rear panel that hides the lock mechanism for the rear hatch?

I think I'm going to remove the side GFX as well while I'm at it. I think there are 2 bolts you have to get from the inside in there too?

Thanks again

No problem bro Actually I think you can access the 3 bolts without removing that center panel. The nuts are on the very end so I dont think you have to remove it.

If the 85-90 gfx are the same as the 91-92 then there will be 2 nuts holding it in place behind the emblem. To access those, you just partially remove the inner fender lining. There will also be one nut holding it in place near the other end of the gfx. To access this one you have to remove the rear armrest panel. You have to remove or loosen a couple things like the b-pillar and the door scuff plate to be able to remove the armrest. There will be a black patch covering the hole. Just remove that and you can access the nut. It sucks if you have big hands because the hole is not that big Just make sure ya got some extensions. Again, this was when I did it on the 91-92's so it might not be exactly the same. How come your removing them? Are you getting your car painted or something?

Thanks again Mike.

I'm removing them to clean everything up. The weatherproofing in the wheel wells was comming off in a few small places so I decided I'd pull the wheels, remove the loose stuff and POR-15 them. I then looked at what was near by and figured I should just pull the GFX and bumper off a do under there while I'm at it. Going to also do the underside. It'll be a tough job, but a rewarding and satisfying one.
